At the beginning of 2009/10 school year there were 1347 state and municipal educational institution of non-university level tertiary education accredited as colleges with total enrolment of 1053,0 thousand students (in 2008/09 – 1280 colleges and, 1075,6 thousand students) in the Russian Federation.
